Episode 1: Pilot
Elena Gilbert and her brother Jeremy are just in the middle of mourning after losing their parents. Jeremy, to cope up with the pain, engages himself into drugs, while Elena makes herself real busy with her study. However, she gets distracted later on due to a new student’s arrival, the mysterious Stefan Salvatore.
Episode 2: The Night of the Comet
As the little town of Mystic Falls prepares to celebrate the festival for the passing comet, Vicki, however, is confined in the hospital due to an attack she can’t remember. Stefan intents to keep Vicki’s memory blurred, thus, tries to use his abilities towards Vicki, bit fails otherwise. Vicki, later on, starts to regain her memory.
Episode 3: Friday Night Bites
Stefan shows off his skills in football, beating Tyler who tries to embarrass him. Elena, in her eagerness to make Bonnie and Stefan close, invites both for dinner. But her plan backfires at her when Damon crashes their dinner bringing along Caroline with him.
Episode 4: Family Ties
Elena succeeds in inviting Stefan to the annual Founder’s Park dance, and so Vicki with Tyler. Damon leaks to Elena some secrets about the Salvatore family, and the remarking resemblance of Elena to Stefan’s long lost love. This makes Stefan furious, thus scheming ways to make Damon out of his life.
Episode 5: You are Undead to Me
Elena learns something about Stefan and Damon upon meeting a stranger who claims to recognize both from a vampire attacks 50 years ago. Meanwhile, Damon summons Caroline to free him from his detention. Bonnie, on the other hand, gets confused after discovering her ability to start a fire.
Episode 6: Lost Girls
In order to make Elena understand him, Stefan, deliberately, explains the horrifying events befalling on Mystic Falls. He narrates the sequence of events from the past and how he and Damon become rivals on their love to a vampire named Katherine. Meanwhile, Logan, Mayor Lockwood and the others have taken drastic moves to watch their town.
Episode 7: Haunted
Bonnie discovers more about her family’s past as voodoo witches after repelling Damon on his attempt to get the necklace from her. On the other hand, Vicki, after being controlled by Damon, has now become a fully blown vampire, and begins her craves for blood.
Episode 8: 162 Candles
Stefan gets a surprise visit from an old vampire friend, Lexi, on his birthday. Caroline, on the other hand, is being instructed by Damon to retrieve the necklace back from Bonnie. Things regarding the pursuit for the vampire get worst after Damon joins the Sheriff Forbes’ circle of hunters.
Episode 9: History Repeating
Jeremy meets his new history teacher named Alaric Saltzman, whom he instantly likes. Bonnie keeps on having dreams about her great-grandmother, Emily Bennett. So to settle it, Bonnie, along with Caroline and Elena, holds a séance to contact Emily and to figure out what she wants. However, Bonnie and Caroline have a misunderstanding again cause by the issue on the necklace.
Episode 10: The turning Point
Jeremy resumes his passion in sketching after having read a journal kept by their ancestors. Damon’skept track on the progress of the vampire hunting as Sheriff Forbes continues to feed him updates regarding the latest vampire attack. Alaric, on the other hand, extends his hands to help Jeremy with his grades, Tyler with his football practices, and the Mayor through giving him information pertaining to the vampire’s attacks.
Episode 11: Bloodlines
Elena gets in a car crash and is saved by Damon. Stefan helps Bonnie manipulates and understands her power. Alaric is discovered to be a vampire hunter-killer who is in search for the vampire who killed his wife.
Episode 12: Unpleasant Ville
Alaric has able to meet Damon in a school dance both attended. Alaric has suspicion that it was Damon who killed his wife.
Episode 13: Children of the Damned
Stefan and Damon have a flash back on the events that pushed them both in the edge of their relationship.
Episode 14: Fool Me Once
Elena and Bonnie have been kidnapped by Ben and Anna, but both are later saved by Stefan. Elena, Bonnie and Gram work together to open Katherine’s grave only to be shocked by what their discovery.
Episode 15: A Few Good Men
Matt’s mother has suddenly appeared in Mystic Falls. A vampire gets on the loose and is now killing anyone it has encountered. Meanwhile, Elena is now determined to unravel her past with the help of Stefan and Jenna.
Episode 16: There Goes the Neighborhood
Stefan and Elena have a double date with Matt and Caroline. While Jeremy’s relationship with Anna makes an unexpected turn.
Episode 17: Let the Right One In
Damon and Elena get in touched with Alaric once more to convince the latter to help them rescue Stefan from the hands of some vile vampires. In the meantime, Jeremy continues to persuade Anna to make him a vampire.
Episode 18: Under Control
After feeding in some of Elena’s blood, Stefan is now saved though it causes him to crave for blood extremely. Meanwhile, Jeremy has now loosed all his patience and thus resolves to find the vampire that kills his beloved Vicki.
Episode 19: Miss Mystic Falls
Elena and Caroline, together with the other girls in town compete for the title “Miss Mystic Falls”. Bonnie is back though she is currently occupied in studying her powers and abilities. Meanwhile, John Gilbert’s attempt to lure Damon into confessing details about the vampires fails.
Episode 20: Blood Brothers
Elena learns more about Stefan and Damon and on how they have become vampires. Damon and Alaric, on the other hand, get themselves occupied in looking for the mysterious invention’s Jonathan Gilbert is seeking too.
Episode 21: Isobel
Isobel has finally returned in Mystic Falls, and has Alaric arranged a meeting between her and her daughter Elena. However, Isobel’s attitude and unparallel actions become a concern to Bonnie and Stefan, thus they voluntarily take parts on the meeting to help Elena.
Episode 22: Founder’s Day
Founder’s Day has been set into chaos and distraction after Jonathan Gilbert takes his plan into motion. Damon’s and Alaric’s attempt to stop Gilbert has, however, take no effects.
